Laser distance / Level sensor DL-LID for LoRaWAN® DECENTLAB
The DL-LID laser distance sensor accurately measures the distance between the sensor head and a target object. The measurement principle is based on infrared laser pulses emitted by the sensor and reflected back from the target. By measuring the time of flight of the laser pulses and using the known speed of light, the sensor calculates the traveled distance and thus determines the exact distance to the target.
This non-contact measurement method enables reliable and highly accurate distance and level measurements, making it ideal for applications such as tanks, silos, storage containers, and environmental monitoring.
Intelligent Measurement Analysis
For each measurement cycle, the device captures multiple distance readings (samples). By default, 10 individual measurements are taken. From these samples, the sensor calculates several statistical values, including:
- Average distance
- Minimum and maximum values
- Median 10th, 25th, 75th, and 90th percentiles
- Most frequent measured value
In addition, the following information is transmitted:
- Number of captured measurements
- Total acquisition time
- Battery voltage
This statistical analysis enables users to better evaluate measurement accuracy, data quality, and possible uncertainties.
Flexible Configuration
The number of samples can be individually configured via the device settings. Between 0 and 1024 samples per measurement are possible (default: 10). This allows the sensor to be optimally adapted to different requirements regarding measurement accuracy and power consumption.
Wireless Data Transmission via LoRaWAN®
Sensor data are transmitted in real time via LoRaWAN®. This wireless technology enables:
- Encrypted data transmission
- Very long communication ranges
- Extremely low power consumption
Measurement data can either be accessed through the Decentlab Data Cloud system for storage and visualization or integrated into the user’s own IoT infrastructure.
